Our History

A Local + Family Business

T&G Sealcoating was founded in 2008 by Gary and his business partner after completing a large commercial sealcoating project in Lake City, MN. What truly started as an accidental opportunity, quickly grew into a hobby. Gary loved getting outside and working in the summer and enjoyed the artistic element of the craft. There really isn’t anything better than seeing a driveway after a sealcoating application - is there?

Through word of mouth and personal connections the amount and size of jobs grew by leaps and bounds. After being in business for several years, they had developed a reputation for very high quality work with fair prices. Due to their solid reputation, in 2013 they started to partner with asphalt paving companies in the Twin Cities that have been around for 30+ years. They would handle their sealcoating projects and refer paving/repair projects to them. Fast forward to 2016, when we joined forces with a 3rd generation asphalt company and started offering our sealcoating services + asphalt paving and repair services under one roof…and we still do, to this day!

At about the same time - Gary’s business partner was becoming more involved in his fathers business and both of Gary’s sons took a liking to the idea of being in business together. At the end of the 2017 season Gary bought out his business partner and in 2018 - Driveway Envy was born. Driveway Envy is 100% family owned and operated and we employ local members of our community that are just as passionate about asphalt and customer service as we are. In 2018, we re-branded, purchased new equipment, started marketing our services, and truly changed from a hobby to a bonified business. Throughout the years - our commitment to provide the best possible customer experience, the highest quality products and service at a fair price have all remained our top priorities and they will continue to guide us as we grow and expand our operations.

2023 brings 15 years of hard work, lots of lessons learned, a bazillion gallons of sealcoating product, millions of linear feet of cracks filled, hundreds of driveways paved, and thousands of happy customers…but above all, a desire to serve our customers better than anyone else and to continue building towards a world class asphalt operation, right here in the Midwest.
