Asphalt Repair
Not every driveway needs to be replaced. Sometimes it just needs the right repair - done properly, by people who know what they're looking at.
Apron replacement - our most requested repair
The apron is the section of asphalt directly in front of your garage entrance - and it's one of the most stress-prone areas of any driveway. It bears the weight of vehicles stopping and starting, is exposed to water runoff from the garage, and sits at a transition point between two different surfaces. When it starts to sink, crack, or crumble, it needs to be addressed before the damage spreads.
The process we follow for apron replacements:
1. Measure We mark 3 to 5 feet out from the garage - far enough to remove all compromised material and establish a clean, stable edge.
2. Precision Cutting Asphalt saws cut cleanly along the pre-measured line, creating a defined perimeter for the repair area.
3. Removal The damaged and sunken asphalt is fully removed, exposing the sub-base beneath.
4. Foundation Repair Any voids or holes in the sub-base are filled and compacted with new gravel before anything else goes down.
5. New Base Gravel Fresh base gravel is added to the cut-out section and compacted to create a stable, level foundation.
6. New Asphalt Hot asphalt mix is applied to the repair area and carefully leveled to match the height of the existing garage slab - creating a seamless transition.
7. Compaction Plate compactors and asphalt rollers compact the new surface to ensure density, durability, and a clean, professional finish.
8. Cleanup The entire work area is thoroughly cleaned of debris before we leave the site.
9. Cure Time The repaired area is left to set for 24 to 36 hours before use.
When Pavement Fails
Asphalt deteriorates for a variety of reasons - an inadequate gravel base, insufficient thickness, poor drainage, years of deferred maintenance, or simply the relentless cycle of Minnesota winters. Whatever the cause, damaged pavement is more than an eyesore. It can damage vehicles, create tripping hazards, accelerate surrounding deterioration, and quietly reduce the value of your property.
The good news is that not all damage requires a full replacement. In many cases, a targeted repair is the smarter and more cost-effective solution - if it's done right.
